Amazon tributaries, "Meeting of the Waters"
The Amazon Clipper is a regional river boat that can carry up to 16 passengers. The boat features comfortable air conditioned cabins each with private facilities. This tour includes all meals aboard the boat as you cruise down Amazon river learning about and gazing at the magnificent wildlife that can be found no where else on earth!
Day 1: Embark the vessel at the Tropical Hotel landing-stage at 14:30 hrs (Manaus). The staff will hold a Presentation on board about the route and facilities. Navigation to the Pagodão river (tributary of the Negro). Enjoying a canoe trip in time to watch the sunset, returning after dark, with the possibility of observing nocturnal animals and perceive the change in the forest at night fall. Afterwards take a break for dinner before a Navigation to Acu Creek or nearby tributaries.
Day 2: Breakfast before commencing a walk in the forest with a tour which will be guided by one of our specialists as they assist in the observation of flora along the way. With a visit to a "caboclo" family you will have the chance to see the local way of life, preparation of manioc flour (the staple foodstuff of the Amazon), and learn more about the health and education situation of the children. After lunch we take Navigate through the Anavilhanas, the world's largest fresh water archipelago, more than 1000 miles from the ocean. Visit to the village of Novo Airao, with its handicraft boat yards where the "AMAZON CLIPPER" was built. You will also see sawmills, have time to stop at the market and other activities. After dinner, a trip by night to see caimans and possibly frogs, sloth, snakes and other species, depending on the season.
Day 3: Navigation to Praia Grande or other white sand beach. If conditions permit you will have the chance to swim and observe the vegetation of the sandy areas. Afterwards we go by Canoe to lake Acajatuba or adjacent lake domains to see typical flora (rubber trees, Brazil nuts, useful palm trees of various types). Try your hand at fishing for piranhas before lunch. Next we stop at the Paricatuba community to see old abandoned rubber-boom buildings, now overgrown with strangler fig trees. Dinner. Navigation.
Day 4: We embark at sunrise for a trip to Lake Janauary for some bird watching and then stop to enjoy breakfast. Navigation to the "Meeting of the Waters". Return to the Tropical Hotel landing-stage, with fine views of Manaus' waterfront. Arrival at 11:30 hrs.
