In Portuguese, it is ‘Iguaçu’; in Spanish it is ‘Iguazú’ – either way, the name conjures up spectacular images of vast amounts of water cascading through virgin rainforest. Fittingly for the meeting point of the two giants of South America, Argentina and Brazil, this waterfall system is one of superlatives: made up of 275 separate falls, with up to 1,500 cubic metres of water dropping every second, and situated in two UNESCO World Heritage-designated National Parks, it dwarfs Niagara Falls and is rivalled only by Victoria Falls statistically and visually.
Undoubtedly, one of the must-see destinations in the World.
Day 1: Arrival in either Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil or Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, and transfer from the airport or bus station to your hotel.
Day 2: We visit the Brazilian side of the Falls in the morning. At certain points, we are surrounded by 260 degrees of waterfall, all within a spectacular jungle setting.
Day 3: Transfer and return to airport for your onward flight.
