This short tour is an ideal beginning or end to your holiday to Peru. You will explore the maze of colonial streets, Baroque, Colonial buildings, ancient monuments and modern development on the stunning Pacific coastline.
Day 1: Lima: Arrival
After arriving in Lima, we will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
Day 2: Lima: City Tour & Gold Museum
Today, we spend the morning touring Lima, the Colonial "City of Kings", and get a first hand glimpse of its majestic past. We visit sites such as the Cathedral and Presidential Palace overlooking the Plaza de Armas, and the Catacombs beneath San Francisco Convent. We get to see, first hand, Lima's magnificent Colonial architecture as well as vignettes of its pre-Colombian past.
In the afternoon, we venture into one of Lima’s affluent suburbs to visit the Gold Museum, with its stunning collection of Incan and pre-Colombian treasure.
Day 3: Lima: Pachacamac
Today, we marvel at the ancient city of Pachacamac. Rising majestically over a cliff-top, overlooking the waters of the Pacific Ocean, this monument was built to honour the creator of the Universe, as worshipped by the Andean Indians. This temple was once a place of pilgrimage, where the faithful flocked to give their offerings and to ask advice of the Oracle. There are many pyramid temples and palaces built over time by various cultures, including the Dios de Sol (Sun God), Las Mujeres Escogidas (Chosen Women) and Las Virgines del Sol (Sun Virgins) Temples.
Pachacamac also has a museum that exhibits an idol found at the site. The temple is said to form part of the world’s mystic axis.
After leaving this site, we return to Lima up the emblematic PanAmerican Highway.
Day 4: Lima: Departure
After your stay in the city we transfer you to the airport for your onward flight, or onward tour.
