Valdes Peninsula Nature Reserve was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 on account of its remarkably abundant marine life, including elephant and fur seals, sea lions, and Southern right whales, along with 181 species of bird.
This three-day tour is a nature-lover’s dream, including the Magellan Penguins at Punta Tombo, as well as the Peninsula.
Day 1: Puerto Madryn: Lunch included
Upon arrival, you will be met and taken directly to Punta Tombo, where you will have a chance to see a large colony of Magellan Penguins: a wonderful introduction to Patagonia!
We continue to Puerto Madryn where our accommodation is located.
Day 2: Valdes Peninsula: Box lunch included
Accompanied by a local guide, we visit the Valdes Peninsula, with its fascinating wildlife.
First, we visit Puerto Piramides on the Golfo Nuevo where whales come each spring to breed. In October and November, it may be possible to take a boat trip into the bay for a close-up viewing of whales basking and diving in the sheltered waters (optional excursion; depends on local weather conditions).
Along the coast of the peninsula we may see elephant seals, sea-lion, penguin, rhea and a profusion of bird-life.
We return to Puerto Madryn for the night.
Day 3: Puerto Madryn to Trelew
After breakfast, we transfer to Trelew airport for our onward flight.
